Promises
I made you a promise
A promise I will keep
It has taken me some time
Afraid that I would weep
At the thought of goodbye
That you're no longer here
But always in our hearts
For you're so very dear
Do you see how much I love
And care for her also?
I'm blessed to call her friend now
As I try to ease her woes
I love the way she loves you
And I hope that you will see
That the love amongst us all
Will last for eternity
A promise I will keep
It has taken me some time
Afraid that I would weep
At the thought of goodbye
That you're no longer here
But always in our hearts
For you're so very dear
Do you see how much I love
And care for her also?
I'm blessed to call her friend now
As I try to ease her woes

And I hope that you will see
That the love amongst us all
Will last for eternity

Pitched Battle
Prayer is the medium of miracles. Through prayer love is received, and through miracles love is expressed.
We love you and are praying for you to pull through this.
Continue to fight this battle with that intense heart and soul within you, those things that make you the amazing person you are.
You have love that burns brightly every day by your side. She is your earth angel. Draw from her strength and her love for you.
You see all of us and the world with so much love and happiness.
We see so much beauty within you. We care about you so much. And we are all tenaciously fighting with you, shining our love on you.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I started my morning off at work with homemade Irish soda bread, courtesy of a co-worker. I opted for that instead of the green-glazed donuts (which stared at me all day).
I forgot to wear green today. Everyone else wore even just a splash of green. So at the end of the day, I walked away from the lunch room with a green-glazed donut in hand. There was my green. (Isn't justification wonderful sometimes.)
Hope you had a great one!

Severing Ties
Why do people who want you to be straight with them get upset when you give them what they asked for in the first place?
You want truth, I give truth. You want to know where you stand, I tell you. You ask what's wrong, I tell you.
Ahh. Because you wanted a different answer. But that's not how life necessarily works--or relationships.
I give my honesty to others with love, gently, not dripping with sarcasm or anger. My words don't come from a place of malice. I never want to hurt a person I care for.
As a friend, I need to tell you truths. Just as I need it from you.
And if we can't agree on that....

Another Angle
As I was walking out of my apartment building last weekend, I saw one of my elderly neighbors dragging a garbage bag behind her. I don't interact much with my neighbors; I exchange just simple greetings when we pass one another. I know she lives on my floor, but never went so far as to introduce myself, etc. When I would pass her and say hello or good morning, she would almost grunt. So I came to think of her as my grumpy old neighbor.
But as I watched this little, old woman drag the garbage bag with one hand and use a cane to steady herself with the other, I couldn't bear to not offer help. So I did. And she was extremely gracious.
After I dropped her garbage in the dumpster, she was smiling and kept thanking me and told me that I was her angel. She explained that she was on her way to visit her husband who is in the nursing home. She pointed to the bag slung around her wrist and told me that she had made them lunch; I could see two foil-wrapped sandwiches. This melted me. We continued with our pleasantries, she thanked me again, and we both went on our way.
And it was yet another moment in life where I was zapped with the truth that you never know what another is enduring...
